The Age of Heroes

The Age of Heroes is the world as the old singers knew it: city-states crowned with white temples, triremes drawn up on shingle beaches, and Mount Olympos hidden in cloud above it all. The Olympian gods quarrel and meddle in mortal lives, the Oracle at Delphi sells the future a riddle at a time, and the bloodlines of heroes — children of gods and kings — chase glory across a sea that hides islands of nymphs, monsters, and forgotten Titans. It is a textured, lived-in world of festivals and feuds, libations and labours, where a guest is sacred, an oath is binding, and the dead drift forever along the cold shore of the Styx. Pour the wine, honour the gods, and remember that every great deed is also a song someone will sing.

The Brine Reach

The Brine Reach is a thousand-mile sprawl of coral isles, ghost-haunted shoals and storm-lashed trade lanes where freedom and the gallows are separated by a single broadside. The pirate Brethren of Saltspire have carved out a roaring republic of thieves; the tyrannical Iron Armada means to drown every last one of them. Beneath the waves the merfolk dominion guards reefs older than memory, the Drowned-God cult hauls sailors down to a sunken cathedral, and something vast and patient turns in the lightless deep. Hoist the black, trust no tide, and remember: every treasure in the Reach was buried by a corpse who is still angry about it.

The Cotswold Outbreak

The rolling hills and sleepy villages of the British countryside have become ground zero for a devastating infection. Neighbors turn into ravenous infected, and isolated communities must scramble to survive without magic, relying purely on their wits, scarce supplies, and improvised defenses.

The Thornewilde Courts

Step off the mortal road on the wrong evening and you arrive in the Thornewilde, a realm of impossible gardens and starving woods where the Seelie and Unseelie Courts wage a war fought not with armies but with bargains, riddles, and stolen names. Here a debt is law, time runs sideways, and a single careless word can sign away your firstborn or your face. The seasons are sovereigns, the goblins keep the only honest market, and somewhere past the thorn-wall the Wild Hunt is winding its horn. Bring iron. Speak carefully. And whatever you do, do not eat the fruit.

The Realm of Aldermoor

Aldermoor is the sort of kingdom every harper sings about and every farmer takes for granted: a green human realm of hedge-bordered fields, market towns and waystone roads, governed from a great walled capital and the ancient royal citadel that broods above it. The land has known three centuries of mostly-peace under the House of Aldermere, long enough for ambitious nobles and a clannish merchant cabal to make scheming an art, and long enough for the free-folk of the wilds to grow tired of paying for it. Dwarves trade iron from the northern peaks, elves keep their old wood in the west, and halflings tend the river-shires, while half-orcs hold the frontier against whatever the dark forest sends. Nothing here is ending; everything is simply contested, slowly, in council halls and tavern back-rooms and the long grass of the moor.

The Seven Seas

The Seven Seas is the warm-water world of the great age of sail, where Crown frigates and pirate sloops share the same trade winds and the same shallow reefs. Sun-baked colonial ports do business by day while the free-haven roars by night; merchant galleons fat with sugar and silver beat north through hurricane lanes, and somewhere out past the charted shoals a fabled island holds a hoard a dead captain buried and only an old map can find. It is a grounded, salt-stained world of harbour taverns and counting-houses, sea-shanties and pieces of eight, where the line between privateer and pirate is one royal signature wide. Mind your rigging, watch your purse, and trust the tide before you trust the man sharing your bottle.

The Mistmoor Veil

Mist comes off the moor at dusk and does not lift until noon, and in that long grey hour the county of Greyfen belongs to other things. A vampire aristocracy holds the old estates and the older bloodlines; werewolf clans run the crags; an Inquisition burns the wrong people with terrible certainty. Now a blood-crimson comet hangs over the cathedral spire, and beneath it the freshly buried have started clawing for the surface. The living survive by candlelight, by lodge-craft, and by never, ever trusting a kind face after dark.

The Verdant Maw

Beneath an endless emerald ceiling, the Verdant Maw swallows everything: stepped golden ziggurats sink into the loam, feathered-serpent priesthoods bleed the faithful to keep the rains coming, and dinosaurs the size of war-galleons graze the flooded glades. The jungle itself is awake — it remembers, it hungers, and it reclaims the slain into its roots. Adventurers come for the lost cities of the Coatl and the river-gold of the Greenmaw; most become mulch, mortar, or meat.

Tianxia, the Jade Dominion

Beneath the Nine Heavens lies Tianxia, the Jade Dominion, an empire stitched together by martial-arts sects who chase the impossible: to refine the breath of the world until flesh becomes immortal. Pilgrims climb mist-drowned peaks to study the sword; alchemists burn lifetimes pursuing the Immortal Pill; and in the gilded capital, a court of eunuchs poisons the throne while a blood-cult digs toward something that should have stayed buried. Honor is a blade, qi is currency, and every wandering hero must choose whether the Mandate of Heaven is worth dying for.

Aphelion Drift

At the cold edge of charted space drifts the Aphelion: a megastructure the size of a moon, built by a species that vanished a million years before humanity learned fire. It is dead — mostly — and around it has grown a lawless frontier of salvage-stations, smuggler routes, and rival fleets all scavenging at the corpse of a god. Corporate navies enforce contracts with railguns, an insectoid hegemony claims the whole region by ancient right, void-pirates tithe the trade-lanes, and deep in the megastructure something old and artificial has begun, after a million years, to wake. Out here there is no law but leverage, no air but what you pay for, and no telling what the Aphelion will do when it finishes opening its eyes.

The Ashbourne Season

Every spring the great families of the realm decamp from their country estates to the capital of Ashbourne for the Season — a months-long campaign of balls, calls and carefully chaperoned courtship in which a young person's entire future is decided over teacups. On the fashionable squares the townhouses fill with debutantes and eligible bachelors; in the assembly rooms the formidable patronesses decide who may dance and who may not; and in the pages of the anonymous scandal-sheet, every reputation hangs by a thread of ink. A carriage-ride away lie the grand country houses where the real fortunes sleep, and west of the city the spa town of Wellspring takes the waters and trades the choicest gossip. There is no war here, no monster at the gate — only the quieter, crueller battlefield of manners, matches and money, where the wrong word at the wrong supper can end a family as surely as any cannon.

The Underrealm of Vael

Far below any sky, the Underrealm of Vael coils through endless stone — a realm that has never known sunlight and learned to fear it. Here the dark-elf matriarchs of House Vael spin politics like silk over a thousand lesser kingdoms: deep-dwarf forge-holds that hammer in the lava-light, fungus-druid colonies that breathe out healing spores and lies, blind troglodyte warrens that worship sound, and an underground sea whose far shore no torch has ever lit. Deeper still, beneath the drowned bones of a surface-city that sank in a single screaming night, the Nethermost things dream in the language of madness — and the spider-queen has begun, at last, to listen.

The Sunspire Caliphate

Beneath a sun that never forgives, the Sunspire Caliphate spreads its jewel-cities across an ocean of singing sand. Here djinn are shackled into lamps and contracts, flying carpets stitch the caravan routes together, and beneath the dunes lie the buried ruins of the empire that ruled before the sand swallowed it. The boy-caliph Tariq al-Mahd sits the Sunspire's high throne, too young to rule and too watched to flee, while rival viziers scheme over the cisterns that are the realm's true power. Sand-leviathans glide unseen below the trade roads, the ghul gather at the edge of the lamplight, and somewhere a lamp older than the Caliphate waits for a hand foolish enough to rub it.

The Mirebog Coven

The Mirebog is older than the maps that fail to chart it — a green-black sprawl of stilt-villages, sunken steeples, and water that keeps no straight channel twice. Here the hag-covens rule from a roothouse grown of a living tree, and every life in the bog is stitched to a bargain: a name traded for a cure, a year given for a safe crossing, a child promised against a hard winter. Will-o'-wisps lure the greedy off the boardwalks, gator-folk patrol the deep sloughs, a plague-spirit drifts the fever-channels, and the Black Ferryman poles the dead to whatever waits past the last cypress. Lately the bog-mummies have begun to rise from the peat, the witch-queen's debts are coming due all at once, and somewhere under the water, the church that drowned is starting to ring its bell again.

Dustfall

They call it Dustfall because nothing here stays standing for long — not the towns, not the truces, and least of all the dead. Gold was found in the bones of Mourning Hollow, and with it came the boomtown of Perdition, the mining baron's hired guns, and a railroad driving its iron spine straight through land the spirit-walkers swore should never be broken. Now the diggings have woken something old and patient, the buried climb out at dusk to finish unfinished business, and in a saloon at the edge of town a demon waits behind the bar, pouring whiskey and counting souls. Out here the only law is the draw, and the only certainty is the dust, falling, falling, over everything.
